New Nigerian school teaches international standards

Six Maritime is now partnered with Elkins Marine Training Institute (EMTI) Nigeria to offer a robust suite of security courses at the certified EMTI schoolhouse in Owerri, Nigeria. The new series of curricula offers a diverse set of tactical disciplines that meet the operational demands of military, law enforcement and private security professionals. Each course of instruction is designed to train and certify students in accordance with the internationally recognized guidelines and standards that pertain to the particular discipline of study. Although our courses are standardized with fixed agenda, we offer custom tailored training to meet specific clients’ needs.

Whether students complete a standard or customized course of instruction, graduates will receive certificates of completion that verify the type of training completed, the level achieved, and the international standards met. Standardized course offerings are organized into the three categories of basic, intermediate and advanced instruction. Novice students are highly encouraged to complete the appropriate basic programs of instruction before enrolling in the intermediate or advanced courses. However, exceptions can be made on a cases-by-case basis.

Level 1: Basic Curricula

The level 1 programs of instruction provide the critical foundation that security careers are built upon. The courses are geared toward both entry-level personnel looking to begin a career in the security field and seasoned security, law enforcement and military professionals seeking to broaden their skillsets. Each course will train and credential students to relevant and recognized international standards, including ISO/PAS 28007, as applicable. Our end state is to introduce students to the basic security principles that will meet your professional military, security and law enforcement objectives.

The level 1 introductory courses include:

• Basic Security Guard
• Maritime Security* (available individually or as a complete three-block Maritime Operator Course)
  • Tactical Shipboard Security*
  • Pier/Anchorage Security (Vessels)*
  • Oil Rig Protection*

• Port Security (Facilities)
• Building and Fixed Asset Security
• Policing

Level 2: Intermediate Curricula

The level 2 curricula are geared towards security professionals looking to expand their tactical and technical abilities. Each practical application-based program of instruction trains students in accordance with the related international guidelines and standards, such as ISO/PAS 28007. Our goal is to build knowledgeable and proficient security operators capable of meeting your professional military, security and law enforcement objectives.

The level 2 intermediate courses include:

• Personal Protection Detail
• Reconnaissance & Surveillance (R&S)
• Unarmed Defense
• Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC)
• UAS (Unmanned Aerial Systems) Employment (Land)
• Pipeline Security

Level 3: Advanced Curricula

The level 3 curricula are for experienced security professionals looking to sharpen their tactical expertise. Each course is engineered to provide students with the skills and habits needed to forge world-class security operators. Our staff of former US Special Operations personnel will train your operators to the highest standards of tactical proficiency, while emphasizing international standards and guidelines where relevant, such asISO/PAS 28007. Our end state is to build proficient and reputable security experts capable of meeting the most demanding military, security and law enforcement objectives.
