SIX MARITIME, THE U.S. GOVERNMENT'S FIRST CHOICE IN VESSEL PROTECTION

Six Maritime is a Premier Maritime Security Company

Six Maritime, a premier maritime security company with offices in San Diego, Gainesville, Dayton Ohio and Dubai, recently became the first choice of the U.S. Department of Commerce to protect the pride of their research vessel fleet, the Reuben Lasker. The 208-plus foot ocean-going research vessel took to its maiden home-port of San Diego, California in May of 2014 where it will be based between its long missions in the Pacific Ocean to study fish, marine mammals and collect other environmental data.

The National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a division of the Department of Commerce, initiated a competitive and highly selective process last October in order to select the preeminent security company to safeguard its newest and one of its most valuable assets, Reuben Lasker. Six Maritime’s prior performance and superior capability secured the company’s position as the sole security provider for the Reuben Lasker beginning in June, 2014.

Nearly two months into the relationship with their private security provider, the officers and crew of Reuben Lasker couldn’t be more pleased by the selection.

“We’re delighted to have Six Maritime onboard.” Commented the ship’s security officer, Lieutenant Claire Surrey-Marsden when asked about how Six Maritime was performing. LT Surrey-Marsden went on to say she is thrilled with the partnership with Six Maritime and would gladly recommend Six Maritime’s services to any other entity with a maritime security need. “We’re thrilled too.” Replied Six Maritime’s CEO Joseph Allen. “Having the opportunity to safeguard such a terrific ship and crew is a real honor. We are excited about the prospect of keeping the Reuben Lasker safe for years to come.”

Six Maritime has assigned its most senior employee as the supervisor for the Reuben Lasker job. Retired Navy SEAL of 28 years, Paul Rocca, was happy to take the assignment and is enjoying it. “I was considering retirement, but she [the Reuben Lasker] is a fine ship, with a terrific complement of officers and crew. I couldn’t pass this up; plus it is pretty nice that she is home-ported where I am!” Mr. Rocca’s sentiments seemed to capture the magical symbiosis Six Maritime has quickly formed with its client NOAAS Reuben Lasker. Both entities are enjoying the presence of the other and working seamlessly to safeguard NOAA’s premier research vessel.
